Through the gate

From the cruise ship to truffle and pinot country in Manjimup to an over cast Port Beach this afternoon it has been the most wonderful week of weddings. Though I do have to share in detail the magic of Manjimup..

When the Manjimup bride showed me her inspiration from which “all things grew” for her wedding – this amazing farm gate on their Manjimup property (a property has been in the family for over 100 years) I knew we were in for something truly magical and magical it was! The setting, the amazing couple and a wedding ceremony so personal and so unique have meant I still have to pinch myself to believe I was actually there and officiating.

The groom handsomely dressed in his red and black check shirt, waist coat and Black Fedora hat came through the gate first followed by his team of groomsmen which marked this event as a country wedding with a difference. The bridesmaids followed on mass in their array of stylish colours and finally the bride on her fathers arm walked through the gate with such elegance and charm.

We stood beneath the custom arch made by the groom and guests gathered around the hay bales. Wonderfully read readings by E.E Cummings and Robert Fulham were supported by quirky quotes from Rumi, Rhett Butler in Gone with the Wind and Kahil Gibran and it was these words that stood alone in an elegant and simple ceremony (that and the unscripted bursts of laughter, tears, rose petals, wolf whistles and cheers!)

We finished with the Dutch wine in a box tradition as the documents were signed and the newly married couple took their first walk as husband and wife back through the gate and into the garden for champagne.

Simple, classy and filled with so much joy! Congratulations Jo and Mitch, it was a privilege to be part of this moment in your lives!
